A select group of investors were given the opportunity to learn about a range of capital projects that support UK local authorities’ net-zero ambitions at a session co-hosted by Innovate UK and BwB in London last week.
The session was part of the Innovate UK Net Zero Living Programme, through which BwB provides climate-focused finance and investment support to over 50 UK local authorities.
Blackpool Council, Blaenau Gwent Business Hub, GWYNNEDD RENEWABLES CYF, Rossendale Borough Council, West Midlands Combined Authority, and Warrington Borough Council, gave engaging presentations on capital projects they are currently developing, leading to lively discussions with investors who provided valuable market feedback.
“We are strongly focused on increasing the connection between locally led net zero projects and the investment community,” said Christine Zhou, BwB Executive Director. “There is real potential to develop a pipeline of investable opportunities if we can facilitate meaningful engagement here and bridge the gap that has traditionally existed between local governments and private financiers.”
This event advances our ongoing efforts to help local authorities transact with and access broader capital markets.
We extend our gratitude to Innovate UK, DESNZ, and City Science for their valued partnership on this journey.
