Expanding access to clean energy in sub-Saharan Africa has the potential to transform the lives of millions of people across the region.
With greater access to reliable, renewable, and affordable power as a primary objective, we are delighted to announce the launch of the ‘Swarm-e Leave No One Behind: Bottom-Up Energy Transformation of Last-Mile Communities’ project.
This pioneering initiative, co-funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme, aims to revolutionise clean energy access in sub-Saharan Africa to provide last-mile communities with decentralised, decarbonised, locally owned energy infrastructure.
BwB is part of a project consortium, which includes European and African research institutions and private sector partners, that will work directly with local communities in Tanzania and Rwanda.
"This project will employ innovative and impactful technological and financial solutions to an area of critical importance for improving economic and social well-being in sub-Saharan Africa.” commented Chris Smith, BwB Managing Director. “We are excited to get started with this transformational initiative.”
